2nd Annual Holiday Cookie Decorating Party
Housing on Merit hosted its 2nd Annual Cookie Decorating Party at Rio Vista to celebrate the holiday season. This year we partnered with San Diego Toys for Tots to distribute toys to the kids in the community. We had a total of 19 kids register and each received a toy and stuffed animal.
Soccer Clinic with the Women’s Soccer Team from San Diego City College
A huge thank you to the Women’s Soccer team from San Diego City College for organizing a soccer clinic for our youth! The team ran drills, taught participants the basics of soccer, and played a few games. Each participant received a backpack donated by 4Imprint’s One by One Program, and a soccer ball generously donated by the team!
Girl Scouts San Diego
The girls in our After School Program had an amazing 4 weeks with the Girls Scouts learning about various STEM subjects!
Balboa Park Community Access Pass
Housing on Merit has partnered with Balboa Park’s Community Access Pass program to provide our residents with free annual passes to the park for the entire family. With the passes, our residents can visit 18 museums at the park. This is a great opportunity for the kids to explore art, science, and educational exhibitions throughout the year.
Holiday Cookie Decorating Party
Housing on Merit hosted a holiday themed cookie decorating party for the residents at Rio Vista. The festivities included cookie decorating, snacks, and lots of presents!
Sony Bike Donation
Housing on Merit, in partnership with Positive Adventures, received a very generous donation of 12 bicycles from Sony. In addition to the bikes the kids also got backpacks filled with amazing gifts! We can’t thank you enough Sony and Positive Adventures for the smiles you put on the faces of the kids at Rio Vista.
Community Garden
The Rio Vista Community Garden allows residents to grow flowers, vegetables, and fruits. We are thankful to our wonderful volunteer instructor and the San Diego Master Gardeners for providing classes on the essentials of gardening.
Fitness Class
Outdoor Fitness Classes promote active living among residents of all ages!
Kick-Off Event
Rio Vista Apartments had its kick-off event on March 25. The event was organized to show our appreciation to residents, and to introduce them to upcoming events and classes.
Nutrition Education Course
This course was brought to Rio Vista by the University of California Cooperative Extension. Participants in the course gained essential knowledge about making healthy eating choices, and access to healthy foods.
Medical Mobile Unit
Fire Department Station 29 Visit
We are thankful to the San Diego Fire Department’s Station 29 Firefighters, for visiting Rio Vista! The residents learned everything they needed to know about what to do in case of a fire related emergency.
